Artitude's little green efforts

the team has been rather mindful of our production methods & processes to ensure that we can be as green that we can be...we thought you might be curious to know!

First and foremost, we use high quality and environmentally responsible vinyl from Germany, Oracle Corporation, which has been awarded ISO 14001 environmental certification in 14 countries since 2007. The ISO 14001 standard, created by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), specifies a set of requirements for the creation and implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS), which helps organisations to minimise any negative impact their operations have on the environment. This also explains why our decals are so long-lasting and frankly, have surprised a decent number of folks with its great quality. We DO NOT use cheap quality vinyl materials that we are not sure of their manufacturing process at their source.

The bits and ends of our decal materials are not thrown away! They are reused to make our parcel more securely wrapped so that they reach you safely and 'colourfully'!

Unbleached paper is used to print our instruction sheets & mailing labels. So now you know why the paper feels so vintage!

& you know what? Our studio air-con is set to only a range of 25 -27 deg celcius & we have evolved to become very comfortable in it, woots!

Our namecards are printed on 100% recycled paper & we do not laminate them! they may not look so glam & poshed, but we love the earthy feel.

There is more you can do for us too! We strongly hope all Aritude fans can recycle the white backing paper after you have installed the decals, if you are not already doing it!
Have you enjoyed our GSS promotion already? Enjoy FREE local registered shipping & get our exclusively design mini decal worth $6.90 great for laptops, ipad, helmets, cars etc for just a min $35 spent!

Pam's wall decals on glass panels

We are so proud of Pam's self-installation work and are very grateful for her kind feedback and photos!

For folks who like to get wall messages decals and paste them on glass, do note the following tips:

1) To ensure that the words pasted are aligned properly and not slanted, do use a marker pen to make markings on the glass (erase the line after installing) before installing.

2) Peel off the white backing paper off, then scrape decal on the glass using our Artitool (or any plastic card) from one end to the other.

3)Remove the transparent transfer at one go after all decals are pasted on the glass.

4)Do note that view of the word on one side of the glass will be laterally reflected, so you would have to decide from which side to paste the words on.

Check out another blogpost here for more tips http://artitude-u-art.blogspot.sg/2009/08/6-great-tips-to-apply-art-decals-on.html.

An Interview with kelly

hello! this is the 2nd part of our introduction interviews with the team behind Artitude,
so.... here our special interview with kelly, our illustrator & marketing team member.

Apart from illustrating and being in charge of the marketing campaigns at Artitude, what do you do during your free time?
Devour non-fiction books. I always look forward to a good date with myself at night just before sleeping – reading, reflecting & sipping a nice cup of tea. I also do pottery, creating fun little works for friends & folks who love them. Yoga keeps me grounded -since the nature of our work is always full of surprises, uncertainty & creative mess!

When did you know you were meant to tread the creative path?
I think everyone has a little artist living in them. And I loved to make nonsensical stuffs since young, but - I did not get to graduate from an arts school – my background was in Philosophy in NUS.

I worked 9-5 job (erm, 9-7 to be exact ha ha) for several years doing education and marine conservation projects. I really enjoyed my job then, but sort of experienced an early mid-life crisis with questions like ‘what else do I really want to do’?

Who has been most influential and what inspires you in your work?
Life brought me to get to know some very creative pals & eric - our creative director was the one who encouraged me to pick up the pen and draw again. Nature and wildlife inspires me! My past work experience in marine conservation had its definite share of influence in my illustration of marine animals for our eco artcards and art decals : )

Is there any art piece that you own which you most treasure?
my little bedroom is full of paintings and handmade treasures by my friends which I surround myself with to keep me inspired when the road gets tough.

If there is any book that you would recommend for fellow folks out there who wish to take a different path than the usual 9-5 corporate world but do not know where to start?
Read A different kind of luxury by Andy Couturier which a great friend recommended me and The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield – life transforming at least for myself.

How do you vision yourself in the next 10 years?
doing meaningful, sustainable eco art endeavours with like-minded folks. And still very passionate about life ;)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
kelly’s illustrations have been translated into Artitude’s wall art decals including Little Artitude Farm, Fly to the Sky, Easy ABC, Wooof!, Little Artitude Monsters, Ele & Friends, Safari Friends and Artitude Eco Artcards and ArTees.

An Interview with Ivory - our guest designer

hello! this is the first part of our introduction interviews with the team behind Artitude, bcos we know you are curious! To all folks and friends who have been through with us through these exciting 3 years since we first started on this journey - thank you so much and it is your love for us and our works that keep us going!

so.... here our special interview with Ivory:

Apart from designing, what do you do?
I love to make handicrafts, paint and do photography.
Learning about plants and herbs, as well as mind training also fascinates me!

When did you know you were an artist/designer?

I don't really identify myself so much as artist or designer – I just love doing it…its my life! Ever since I was 5 or 6 years old, I was already making little pieces of art and my love for drawing and sketching bloomed when I was in Primary school.

Who has been most influential and what inspires you in your work?

I guess it has been my family and friends who also appreciate the finer details in life.
Nature never fails to inspire me!

How would you describe your creative process?
I think good design provides good solution. So I always ponder how I can make a difference in the daily life through my creative work.

A piece of art work starts begins from an indescribable feeling or inspiration and my art is to express it. Any method/medium that can express it well makes my best pieces of art.

Is there any art piece that you own which you most treasure?

Of course, any art pieces made and given to me by friends!

How do you vision yourself in the next 10 years?
Well, it is not easy especially in Singapore, but I will still persist in crafting, painting and designing :D

Ivory is Artitude's guest designer and her very popular designs include Bamboo forest, Flowers and the latest Dragon.,
a prolific designer and entrepreneur, she was the brain child of highly successful fashion boutique ArtIris for 10 years. for interest, she makes and conducts private classes on wire jewellery making : )
